The NSW Wild Harvest Fishers Association (WHF) is pleased to announce that the election for the inaugural Board of the Association will be held in March 2025. “The interim board is keen to hold the elections as soon as possible after the December-January peak business and holiday period” said WHF independent Chair, John Wilson.
To vote or stand for a Board position you must be a fully paid ordinary member of WHF. I therefore encourage every commercial fisher in NSW to join the WHF and help shape the industry’s future”, WHF CEO Chris Melham said. Every fishing Region in NSW will be represented on the Board, with separate elections being held in each of the 8 Regions thereby ensuring state-wide representation.
“The NSW Government has stated that it wants to ensure NSW has a viable, productive and sustainable commercial fisheries sector now and for future generations – so does the WHF”, Melham said. WHF was formed with the support of the NSW Government to improve commercial fishers’ financial viability, and the long-term future of the commercial fishing industry.
Over the past three months Chris has travelled the entire NSW coastline meeting with commercial fishers who are supportive of a strong and united voice to advocate for them. Once elected, the Board will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Association and implement a state-wide consultation program with WHF members to identify high priority advocacy issues.
All commercial fishers who join before 28th February 2025 will receive a 50% discount on their annual membership fee and pay only $250 (Plus GST).
Complete and return the attached membership form now or call Chris on 0498 227 281 to discuss and join over the phone.
End.
